Live Protection
Live Protection watches running games and takes rolling snapshots as you play, so you can roll back a corrupted or unwanted save in seconds.
How it triggers
Section titled “How it triggers”- Filesystem changes — when a monitored game writes its save, SaveVault snapshots it.
- Global hotkey — press the hotkey (default Ctrl+Shift+S) to force a snapshot at any moment. Hotkey snapshots are pinned by default, so they survive automatic cleanup.
Turn it on
Section titled “Turn it on”Toggle Live Protection per game on the Backup page, or start it from the CLI to auto-detect running games:
savevault-cli live startThe system tray menu also exposes a Live Protection toggle when it’s enabled in Settings.
Rolling snapshots
Section titled “Rolling snapshots”A configurable limit (live.rolling_snapshot_limit) keeps the most recent snapshots and
drops older unpinned ones. Snapshots default to <backup_dir>/snapshots, overridable
with a dedicated snapshot folder in Settings.
