Bring Your Backups
With You.
VaultBridge converts GameSave Manager and Ludusavi backups into SaveVault archives, and SaveVault archives back again, keeping original dates, verified files, and registry data. Anything that cannot be carried over is reported, never dropped silently.
Four directions, no data loss
Switching to SaveVault should not mean starting your backup history over. Leaving it should not mean losing it either.
GameSave Manager → SaveVault
Every .gsba becomes a SaveVault archive with its original backup date, hashed files, portable save locations, and its registry export. Steam Cloud folders are placed when the backup records your Steam id, never guessed.
Ludusavi → SaveVault
Drop your Ludusavi backup folder. Each full and differential backup becomes one self-contained archive; locked backups arrive pinned, comments become labels, and Steam Deck backups keep their Proton hives.
SaveVault → GameSave Manager
Writes .gsba backups that GameSave Manager lists and restores like its own, registry included.
SaveVault → Ludusavi
Adds each archive to a Ludusavi backup folder as a full backup, creating or updating mapping.yaml the way Ludusavi expects, in folder or zip layout.
Original dates survive
The backup time travels with the archive, so SaveVault’s retention treats a 2019 import as a 2019 backup.
Every file verified
BLAKE3 hashes and modification times on every file; SaveVault’s verify and explain commands pass on the result.
Registry too
Windows registry exports and Proton prefix hives are carried across, not left behind.
Nothing dropped silently
Anything that cannot be carried over is reported per archive in the conversion log.
Download
VaultBridge is free. It updates itself in place, and every update is verified against the signing key built into the app.
Command-line tool (vaultbridge, a single file):Windows · macOS · Linux
The Windows installer is not yet code-signed, so SmartScreen shows "unknown publisher" the first time you run it, and the macOS app is not notarized, so open it with right-click → Open the first time.
The source and every release are onGitHub. VaultBridge is GPL-3.0.
Into SaveVault
Point the output at your SaveVault backup folder and the archives are adopted as SaveVault's own. SaveVault keeps four backups per game by default, so a large import can exceed the cap; VaultBridge warns when more than four are imported for one game, and Pin backup keeps every import.
Built on the real formats
VaultBridge builds against SaveVault's published archive formatand the on-disk layouts GameSave Manager and Ludusavi write, and every conversion is round-tripped in its test suite so each tool reads the result as one of its own.
