Built to Valve's Deck Verified checklist
Built for the Steam Deck
Back up and restore your saves right from Game Mode — fully controller-driven, touch-ready, and Proton-aware. Game Mode protection comes from thelaunch wrapper and the L3+R3 controller checkpoint.
Handheld-first, not an afterthought
Every part of SaveVault works without a mouse or keyboard. The same app runs on other Windows and Linux handhelds too, and on the Steam Frame as a native arm64 build.
Fully gamepad-navigable
Move through the sidebar and every control with the D-pad, A/B, and bumpers. Clear focus indicators show exactly where you are — no trackpad gymnastics.
On-screen keyboard
Text fields summon the Deck keyboard automatically via the VirtualKeyboard API, so naming a backup or entering a path just works in Game Mode.
Suspend & resume aware
SaveVault handles the Deck sleeping and waking mid-session, so suspending the Deck never leaves the app stuck.
Touch-friendly layout
44px tap targets and a layout tuned for 1280×800, with adaptive breakpoints that scale to any handheld screen.
Proton & Wine saves
Many Deck games run under Proton, tucking saves inside a compatibility prefix. SaveVault discovers those prefixes and can restore saves back into them.
Game Mode protection
Add the launch wrapper to the launch options of any Steam game and SaveVault backs up around the session. Press L3+R3 to checkpoint your save mid-game, no keyboard needed.
Native on Steam Frame
The Linux build includes native arm64 for the Steam Frame. Backups made on the Frame restore on a PC, and the other way round.
One folder, every device
A Deck, a Frame, and a PC can share one backup folder. Each backup is tagged with its device, and retention is kept per device.
Your cloud, on the go
Mirror Deck saves to your own Google Drive, Dropbox, or OneDrive so they follow you between the Deck and your desktop.
Protect your Deck saves
Install SaveVault on your Steam Deck and never lose a run again.
