Questions, answered
It’s open source — why would I pay?
SaveVault is GPL-3.0, so you can build it from source for free. Buying gets you a signed, ready-to-run build with automatic updates, saves you the toolchain, and directly funds development.
What’s the difference between Steam and Direct?
Both have identical features on every platform. Steam adds achievements and updates through Steam; Direct is a DRM-free signed installer with in-app updates and no account or license keys.
Do I need a license key or an account?
No. The direct build is completely DRM-free, GOG-style — download it and run it. There are no keys to manage and no activation.
Can I use it on all my machines?
Yes. One purchase covers you across Windows, macOS, Linux, and Steam Deck — there’s no per-device limit.
Are updates included?
Yes — feature and fix updates are free. Steam updates automatically; the direct build checks and installs updates in-app.
What about refunds?
Steam purchases follow Steam’s refund policy. Direct purchases are handled by our payment provider; refund terms will be linked at checkout before launch.
